July 31, 2001. A view of Nanchang from our room at the Lake View Hotel. It was hazy the entire time we were there. We're not sure if it was caused by pollution or high temperature and humidity. Probably a combination of both. The air in China is more polluted than in the U.S., but we were there during the summer months when pollution is better than it is in the winter months. Nanchang is one of four cities that the Chinese call "furnaces" due to the heat and humidity. Nanchang is at about the same latitude as San Antonio, Texas or Tampa, Florida.
